Based on the Journal of Sergeant Hugh Wilson of the 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Fusiliers, this is a vivid, matter of fact and moving chronicle of his service in the Great War, describing the everyday chores and everyday horrors of trench warfare. Interspersed with extracts from the Battalion's War Diary, it is published to mark the 90th anniversary of the outbreak of war and is a fitting tribute to Sgt Wilson's memory, and to his comrades, not only in the Faughs, but to all who served in the British Expeditionary Force of 1914.
